JUNE 2017

It seems like only yesterday I was typing up my update for May and here we are at the end of June already!  Seriously, is Earth twirling around on its axis faster these days, or is it just me?

Earlier this month…I attended the cast and crew screening of Auld Alliance’s Fran and The Moth at the Contemporary Centre for Arts in Glasgow.  It was a fantastic night and I can’t wait for this film to finish it’s festival run so I can share it with you.  It is ‘seriously’ funny, if you get what I mean.

Giving back…This month I took some time out to do some fundraising for one of my favourite charities.  It is such a pleasure being able to put my event management skills from a previous life to good use and raise much-needed funds for my local school.  As an actress I am very grateful that I have the luxury of being able to select the projects that I want to work on, which gives me the flexibility to spend time giving back to the community whenever I want to.  I would urge you all to choose a local charity and volunteer whenever you can.  There is nothing so rewarding as being able to give back.

Just say "Yes" or "No", it's not that hard.

Just say "Yes" or "No", it's not that hard.

Auditions…June was also a very busy month for auditions.  A couple of face-to-face auditions but lots of self-tape auditions.  So, can I just state here for the record that self-tapes, albeit a necessary evil in this day and age of casting, are so frustrating.  SHEEZ!  You get a script, you research your character, you learn your lines, you record your audition, you upload your self-tape and then…nothing!  Not even an acknowledgement of receipt.  Of course, this isn’t the case with all self-taped auditions but it is becoming a worrying trend.

Edinburgh Fringe Festival…I had hoped to be able to share some good news here but sadly I will not be debuting at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year.  Some of the roles didn’t pan out as expected, and time and distance precluded me from being able to accept the other roles.  However, I can’t wait to buy my tickets and get involved that way.  In the meantime, I will continue to throw my name in the hat at Glasgow’s Stage to Page. A fabulous night at the Contemporary Centre for Arts in Glasgow where new writers get the chance to workshop scenes from their plays.  For more information go to https://www.facebook.com/StageToPage/

Fortresscontinues to wow the festival audiences, collecting 2 more laurels, this time for Wales Fiction Winner at the Cardiff Mini Film Festival 2017 and Best Cinematography at the Feel The Reel International Film Festival 2017.  So, thanks for keeping your fingers crossed for me since last month’s update!
